  • Bal Vikas means the ‘Blossoming of child’. Sri Sathya Sai Balvikas initiated and founded by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba in the year 1969, is based on the Divine Dictum “The End of Education is character”

The main objective of Bal vikas is to foster the character development in children. It is Educare for Lok Vikas. The course aims at inculcating education in basic human values namely Truth, Right Conduct, Peace, Love and Non-violence, thereby laying strong foundation stones for the life of an individual.  What you sow, so shall you reap. It is important to sow the seeds of right values in children so that the young minds blossom into a good individual who will play a prime role in building a good society and a good Nation.

Human values can neither be imbibed through textbooks nor can they be gifted by anyone. They are inherent within each individual and the Sri Sathya Sai Balvikas program provides the right environment for these latent human values to blossom and empowers each child to unfold the innate values within oneself to the highest perfection.  SSS Balvikas trains children from the age of 5 to the age of 15. In fact complements the school education emphasizing on the five cardinal human values.  It aims to develop the five aspects of child's personality i.e. Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, Psychological and Spiritual aspects, by kindling the intrinsic human qualities, thereby achieving a complete, well rounded personality aiming at individual transformation.

The objectives of SSS Balvikas as defined by Baba are:
1)To raise a generation of boys and girls with a clean and clear conscience.
    2) To guide the children in the spiritual path through simple and moral living.
    3) To install in the young minds the importance of Duty, Devotion and Discipline.
    4) To help them to Love all and Serve all.
    5) To help them to grow into worthy citizens, to serve the society, identifying the Divinity present in all.

The Balvikas curriculum uses simple teaching techniques such as: Prayer, Group Singing, Meditation (Silent Sitting), Story Telling and Group Activities in an integrated and systematic manner. The children are taught to become conscious about the latent potential within and orient their lives on the trajectory of human excellence.

Students who attend Balvikas classes have been able to excel in other fields such as academics, sports, art & culture and in their professions. Not only that, they have been able to handle difficult situations in their life in much better ways because of the values they imbibed in their formative years.  Lakhs and lakhs of children have been blossomed into youth of character through this Movement over the years and there are thousands of teachers, known as Bal Vikas gurus guiding these young aspiring minds to a better tomorrow following the divine teachings and guidelines of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

The overall Balvikas course is split into 3 groups, based on the age of the children.
    Group I – Age 5-9
    Group II – Age 10 -12
    Group 3 – Age 13-15
In Group I learning is attained through 'doing and making',
in Group - II 'doing and thinking' and i
n Group III 'Planning and Achieving'.
